On the road to mastering Facebook

Facebook is the social media platform that I am most familiar with. It has a simple enough to learn interface but still has a lot of utilization power. One big feature on Facebook if the event tool. Users are able to create events and invite certain friends or Facebook users. Events can be created from anything to a fundraiser to a birthday party. It’s a great way to schedule an event and bring people together.

Facebook also gives users not only the ability to post pictures, but also the ability to upload videos. This is a great way to share to people a video you own. One is able to record something on their phone then upload it directly to Facebook. The user has also the ability to tag where the video was taken. Also the user can tag friends in it if they specifically want to get the attention of that person.

A huge catalog of games is also available on Facebook. Users can play games such as poker with other Facebook users. A big game that recently caught fire is Trivia Crack. It allows a user to play a jeopardy like game with their friends. Big names like the Fast and the Furious movies have also developed games for Facebook. This signifies that games on Facebook is also a great marketing tool.

Facebook like Twitter also gives the user the opportunity to invite friends onto Facebook. Facebook is able to take it a step further though by able to identify and group people who have gone to the same high school, college, place of employment, etc. It helps narrow down a group of people whom you might have things in common with.

On a user’s Facebook page one is also to see a list of interests. My page for example has a lists of recent movies that I saw as well as a list of sports teams that I like. I feel like this is a great feature because it helps people get more familiar with one another. Twitter is a great social media platform but I feel it doesn't get as in depth as Facebook does.
This is an assignment from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Collaborative Computing. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc
