Denver's KOAA News 5 reports on Colorado Immersive Education clubs

I think it is super cool how these students are doing their engineering studies.  At first an engineering course to high school students may not seem to enticing. But when they found out they would be suing mine craft to build the fort I bet they were ecstatic. I know if I had a class in high school that let me use minecraft I'd be looking forward to that class every day.
The virtual production of the fort also gives the students a better appreciation for their hometown. One student said that prior to taking this class all he thought of the fort was that it was just a fort. But now being able to get deeper into the actual architectural design of the fort he has adopted a new appreciation of it. I think its a great way to introduce students to engineering and a great path to start on.

This is an assignment from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Collaborative Computing. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc
