It was interesting article to read. I like how it
combined social statuses and hierarchy with functions of the mind. I kind of
knew that time didn’t exist in virtual worlds but it was interesting to read
about it in this light. The avatar or “people” that we create in these virtual
worlds can still be interacted with even though we are not controlling them.
The identity mapping project was interesting to do
as well. I can see its connection to this article. Technology has become
integral if not the most important things in our lives. We base our existence
around it. The Web has created a wide new range of communications. All these
new social media websites allow us to connect in ways other than physical.
Social media allows us to be connected even though we may not be present at
that current time.
